Thursday evening can be the time to get together with others to shoot Postals if the group elects from January through March.  General practice for the rest of the year.  Also welcome are those who have not signed up for the Postals but want to practice with their .22 rifle, .22 pistol, or air rifle and pistol.  On occasion some members practice with their centerfire pistols but it is not the focus of the gathering.  Postals are matches where Clubs around the State shoot the same type of targets and, these days rather than mail in the scores, the scores get emailed to Maine Rifle and Pistol Assoc for tabulation to see which Club did the best.   As with the Wednesday night shoots, it is a good way to socialize with members through the dark days of winter.  The time for meeting is fluid as some people show up as early as 4 and leave early and others show up later in the evening at 5:30 or so.

    • Indoor Range

Member Alice Bean Andrenyak is facilitating this recurring warm months event for any interested member women. Alice is a dynamic, interested and engaged pistol shooter with lots of knowledge to share.

The Women's Pistol Shooting Group will meet on the 1st Thursday of the month from 1:00 - 3:00pm.  We learn from each other and from Instructor Alice while maintaining safety during the complete session. We will have skills to practice for part of each meeting, some personal focused shooting time, and social time at the end. During the warm months, we will shoot on the Defensive Shooting Range unless the weather is poor, when we go inside. During the cold months, the indoor range is used. If we go inside and you are not indoor range qualified, you will be using a .22 lr cal pistol.  Each woman will bring their own pistol(s) and ammunition. Instructor Alice will sometimes offer a mini-class during the meeting. Free to all members.

    • Covered Firing Line

Trap Shoot, multiple rounds. This is a shoot for club members and guests of members only.  YOU MUST USE STEEL SHOT TARGET LOADS - NO LEAD.

These shoots run from the first Thursday in May through the last Thursday in September. We shoot every Thursday night; weather permitting, on the Trap Range outside of the covered firing line.

Shooting starts officially at 4:30PM, but sometimes we start earlier. We will fit everyone into the shooting rotations and will shoot until everyone is done or it gets too dark to see the clay birds.

First time shot gunners and younger shooters, accompanied and supervised by a member are encouraged.

Cost: $5.00 for members and $6.00 for guests for each round of 25 clay birds; you supply your own ammunition. Steel Shot required. Limited amount of shot may be available for purchase at club if needed.

    Calling all members to volunteer!

Send message to the Club email with interest of volunteering this day or match day. Your help is welcomed and appreciated!

This is a work day to prepare for the IBS Benchrest on Sunday.

Workdays should be a pleasant experience. Members tend to be friendly and helpful. This is a good way to get to know other members, especially if you are looking for a sponsor. Some of the areas that you may be asked to help with are:

    • General clean-up in the club house
    • Check and tidy-up the bathrooms
    • Clean-up the firing line area in the indoor range
    • Shovel and/or rake dirt on the berms
    • Help set up target holders for an upcoming shoot
    • Help bring trash to the dump

You may find things that you can do without being asked, there is always some trimming or weed whacking to be done to help the place look neat.

No one expects you to do work in areas that you are not comfortable with so don’t hesitate to speak up if someone asks you to do something that you can’t or shouldn’t do. If we all do a little, it will make it easier for everybody.
